The perfume market, how it's made, and how far back in history the notion of perfume goes are things I want to further explore.

I think this one's a great topic.
I'd highly recommend seeing the movie PERUME (2006). It's brilliant.
This one seems to provide some basic information concerning perfume from 1946: "Our Perfumed World" http://www.jstor.org/sici?sici=0096-4018(19460511)49%3A19%3C298%3AOPW%3E2.0.CO%3B2-W

I would also recommend looking at the novel the movie "Perfume"is based on by Patrick Suskind.
Also, I have seen articles in the New York Times and elsewhere about perfumes being used by stores, hotels, and other corporations to create a certain atmosphere and mindset for their clients. This might be interesting to look in to.
